The 504 Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 within our school/district. This position involves collaboration with educators, parents, and community resources to create and maintain a supportive educational environment for students with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordination of Services: Update and manage the identification and evaluation processes for students eligible for 504 services, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
Individualized Accommodation Plans: Develop, implement, and monitor 504 Accommodation Plans in collaboration with teachers, staff, and parents.
Training and Support: Provide training and support to staff regarding 504 laws, policies, and best practices.
Communication: Act as a liaison between students, parents, educators, and community resources to ensure effective communication and support.
Data Management: Maintain accurate records of 504 plans, evaluations, and progress monitoring.
Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and needs of students with disabilities within the educational setting.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and district policies related to Section 504.
Experience working with students with disabilities and knowledge of Section 504 regulations.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Proficiency in data management and record-keeping systems.
Certification in psychology, special education or administration required.
