Job Description

The Glens Falls City School District is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Middle School Business Teacher to engage students in career exploration and workforce readiness. The successful candidate will help students develop foundational business, technology, communication, and employability skills while introducing them to a broad range of career pathways. Through hands-on, project-based learning experiences, students will explore trade, technical, and business career opportunities and gain an understanding of the skills necessary for future success.

Essential Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards in business, career, and technical education.
• Introduce students to the trades, technical, and business career areas through exploratory learning experiences.
• Provide opportunities for students to explore career cluster pathways including:
  • Construction
  • Transportation
  • Manufacturing
  • Visual Arts and Communication
  • Business and Entrepreneurship
  • Public Service
  • Information Technology
• Develop students' understanding of essential workplace skills, including communication, collaboration, problem-solving, professionalism, adaptability, and leadership.
• Integrate technology and digital literacy skills into instruction.
• Design and facilitate hands-on projects that connect classroom learning to real-world careers and industry practices.
• Promote career awareness and workforce readiness through career exploration activities, guest speakers, industry partnerships, and project-based learning opportunities.
• Foster student understanding of entrepreneurship, financial literacy, workplace expectations, and career planning.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports student engagement and growth.
• Collaborate with counselors, special education staff, administrators, and community partners to support student success and career exploration initiatives.

Job Qualifications

• Valid New York State Teaching Certification appropriate for the position.
• Demonstrated knowledge of business education, career exploration, and workforce readiness skills.
• Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
• Ability to engage middle school students through experiential and project-based learning.
