Job Description

Glens Falls City School District has an opening for a district-wide Senior Building Maintenance Mechanic. This is a 12-month position 8 hours a day.

Our Senior Building Maintenance Mechanic keeps Glens Falls' school buildings and grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of district facilities. These valuable staff members promote the safety, health, and comfort of students and employees in school buildings and on the grounds by maintaining a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects.

Job Description

• Supervise the work of maintenance/custodians, mechanics, workers, and cleaners. 
• Have the ability to make minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry and mechanical repairs.
• Good knowledge of common practices, tools, terminology and safety precautions for maintenance repairs and construction.
• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills are essential.
• Reliability and willingness to be available to respond to emergency situations.
• Have the willingness to perform custodial and other manual tasks
• Ability to lay out work for oneself and others.

Job Qualifications

• Four years of experience in General building construction, maintenance or repair work in one or more of the standard trades, such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, etc.
