Job Description

Glens Falls City School District is seeking a motivated, creative and innovative thinker to join our team as the Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel Services.  

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Pupil Services, the Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel Services supports the effective delivery of programs and services that enhance the academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being of all students. The Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel Services will collaborate with staff, families, and community partners to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations while fostering an equitable and inclusive environment. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Program Administration:

  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of pupil personnel services, including special education, Section 504 accommodations, counseling, health services, and student attendance initiatives.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director of Pupil Personnel Services and oversee policies, procedures, and programs to promote student success and well-being.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Supervise and support staff, including school counselors, social workers, nurses to ensure high-quality service delivery.

  • Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and families to address the needs of students with disabilities or other challenges.

  • Serve as a liaison with external agencies and community organizations to expand resources and services for students.

  • Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting for student services programs, including Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and attendance records.

  • Assist in preparing reports and grants.

  • Professional Development:

  • Provide training and professional development for school staff on topics related to special education, attendance policies, equity, and student mental health.

  • Stay updated on educational research, trends, and legal requirements impacting pupil personnel services

  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director of Pupil Services 

*Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel Services will work from September 1 to June 30 (10 months) with an additional 15 days of work. 

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • School District Leader Certification

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in pupil personnel services, special education, or related roles in an educational setting.

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of state and federal regulations related to special education.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, make informed decisions, and solve problems effectively.

  • Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within school programs.

  • Strong vision and commitment to support the educational interests of students both social-emotional and academic toward graduation.

  • Focus on equity.

  • Willingness to work collaboratively as a member of a professional learning community.
