Job Description

The Glens Falls City School District has an anticipated opening for a 10-month (6.5 hours per day) Teaching Assistant in the Middle School.

General Responsibilities include:

• Working with individual students or groups of students on instructional activities and tasks and related work as required. 
• Provide a structured learning experience and atmosphere in the classrooms assigned. 
• Teaching Assistants will be expected to cover in the teacher's absence and provide structured learning experience.
• Assisting with activities, supervising the children, maintaining the classroom and other areas, assisting in developing good health standards and appropriate social habits, and filling in for other staff as needed. 

Personal Qualities:

• Capacity to manage multiple responsibilities and competing demands. 
• Demonstrated ability to work in a calm and respectful manner
• Maintain a positive, encouraging attitude to motivate others. 
• The candidate must enjoy working with children.

Job Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

• Graduation from High School or possession of a High School Equivalency diploma and knowledge in a particular field where specialized duties are involved.
• *18 Credits earned from a regionally accredited college or university
• Valid NYS Teaching Assistant Certification, or the willingness to obtain it as a term of employment.
