School Counselor

The Glens Falls City School District is seeking interested applicants for an Elementary School Counselor. Salary is per the GFTA contract.  

School Counselors in Glens Falls work collaboratively to develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses students' academic, career, and social-emotional development. This role involves collaboration with educators, administrators, families, and community agencies to support student success and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to support students' academic achievement, personal/social development, and career planning.

  • Design and deliver classroom guidance lessons aligned with New York State Learning Standards and the ASCA National Model.

  • Assist students in developing academic and career plans, including college readiness and vocational exploration.

  • Identify and address barriers to student learning through data analysis and intervention strategies.

  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to create supportive learning environments.

  • Respond to student crises and provide appropriate referrals to external resources when necessary.
